People told me beforehand you either love or hate Delhi, there's no inbetween. This must mean I'm really going to love the city since I don't hate it yet but am too exhausted to love it at the moment.
If anyone has plans to go to old delhi after an overnight flight.....Don't.
It starts out nicely enough: the airport is crisp and clean, the first part of the taxi ride is relatively relaxing (if you're into a bit of creative driving on bumpy roads that is). Then all of a sudden, without anything that might remotely be called a warning in sight.....BANG there you are in utter chaos. I would probably have loved it were it not for the night of sleep I missed.
Rewinding a bit to the flight in: Teheran at night is a huge and impressive sight ( I do now understand why they claim they need nuclear power, the place almost makes Paris feel ashamed being called the light city). By day though it's a completely different ballgame: The entire view is brownish in a few different shades (only noticeable after staring into it for a while). It took me a while to realize I was no longer looking at the ground since hints of blue had appeared in my sight, I've not been able to make out the horizon though and I had a good 3 hours to look for it. This landscape continues all the way throughout Iran (and the other countries we crossed, I have no idea of the route though), and only started to change minutes before touching down at Delhi airport. So if anyone ever plans on going to this part of the middle east, I hope you have a splendid time with the locals 'cause as far as the scenery goes you're probably better off at home.
